The Difference Between Barbers and Men’s Hairstylists – Tommy Tusa Talks

Is there a difference on how a cosmetologist and a barber work on men’s hair? You bet there is! Here, Esquire Grooming’s Tommy Tusa explains the difference between the two professions and how they approach the scissor-over-comb technique.

He also talks about the importance of slowing down and focusing on your work instead of focusing on speed.

I can’t hear most of what he’s saying cause of all the background noise. What a shame. Whatever event this was, they should have created a DVD of the entire presentation and made it available since he’s on a mic anyway. What even was this, and where? He’s wearing a drab, brown polyester vest like it’s the 1970s and he works for Esquire? lol

This guy is wrong about all cosmetologist not knowing about barbering techniques….when I was a teacher at Toni&Guy we taught the same barber techniques he’s talking about, including block graduation, which they don’t teach in barber school.
