Haha bullshit. Like the stuff they use is healthier. Maybe if you are a celebrity hair stylest. But plebs like you and I can’t find decent hairdressers. If they charge 100 euros for a dye job, half goes to taxes, and most of the rest to wages and costs. So the price of the dye can’t be that much, maybe 5 euros. So a box dye by L’Oreal is worth more than that. Barbers fuck up my hair all the time so I dye my hair myself and yeah you need to experiment a bit and keep some spare colors to fix things just in case, but you master it quickly. I can turn black box dye to ashy light brown in just two days, I can lighten brown hair, I can darken my hair. Just always go for ashy shades and check the grid on the backside. Easy.

Of course the salons wouldn’t want you to spend money on the products instead of going to the salons. Duh!

You can find loads of useful tips on the Internet. I have been using root touch up sprays etc…What a saving you can make over a year with these products! This doesn’t mean I’ll be using my salon after this time because they do a great job, but I won’t use it as often……Kerching! 😀

Use a good brand, don’t try to overdo it, don’t try to do something crazy, and follow the directions to the letter. Do your research and make sure to protect your skin and any towels you’re going to use. The "experts" are extremely biased and in this case should be ignored. People have been dying their hair at home for a really long time and unless they do something stupid, it comes out fine.

They are bogus! They don’t want you to take money from them. Box dye is perfectly fine –

Well, what are they supposed to say? Smh.
As if they don’t use harsh chemicals themselves. It’s not like most hair treatment are not damaging anyway.
To be fair, a truly honest person would tell you exactly what the user happykitten and I told you below in the comment.
Do your research (do it! Don’t act on a whim), pick a good brand, don’t go for drastic changes, don’t dye your hair every two days or so, follow the instructions and you’ll be fine.
Yes, there are good brands around, and if you *really* do your research you’ll find more and more brands producing more delicate hair dyes (Phyto Color, Bioscalin, Euphidra, Biokap, Sanotint and others).
Using professional hair dye at home is also a very good alternative.
