Step 1: Brush hair forward.
Step 2: Number 6 (opened) on top in direction of hair.
Step 3: Number 4 (closed) on sides
Step 4: Number 3 (closed) on sides
Step 5: Number 2 (closed) on sides
Step 6: Number 1 (opened) on sides
Step 7: Number 1 (closed) on sides
Step 8: No guards (opened) on back bottom
Step 9: Shape up sides and back
Step 10: Beard shape up

Key thing is to get a set of proper clippers. the lever helps for fade but not essential. first time i tried it with beard trimmer and made a total mess. after using clippers it was far easier and Im not going back to a barber any time soon , waiting 45 mins to have a cut. I think barbers deserve the money for their skill but the queuing + covid situation is keeping me at home for now

Hey you know how you cut against the grain with the clippers on open? If you want to go slightly shorter, should you keep the setting on open and just go down by clip numbers? Or do you close the lever to go shorter?

my judgment is as a barber and I can say that I have never seen a barber / hairdresser as I define myself, having more wrong cutting bases and surely who in the comments praises his skills is only because they have always gone to the wrong barber
