The hair types ARE straight wavy curly and coily. Those numbers and letters hair types don’t exist. Low porosity hair needs more moisture than protein and not a lot of heavy oils and butters. High porosity hair needs more protein than moisture. Medium to normal porosity needs an equal amount of protein and moisture.
She did a beautiful job. I was happy when she said something on the hair was blocking the water from wetting the hair. Also she said she wasn’t a fan of oils in the hair.
Know your porosity. Research the hair science ladies and your hair will thrive.
I’m glad you were happy with this stylist. Become a regular client and your hair should remain healthy and grow to your waist in no time.
My guess about your hair not dripping is like water off a duck’s back. There weren’t any oils so your hair could absorb the water.
I never considered the oil "water proofing" your hair from the water, but it totally makes sense.

I’m interested to know why they are anti-oil. I’d love to be able to lock in moisture without oil. My glasses will thank me! I have to clean them like 20 times a day. ha

I’m with you, girl. I’m 50 & have **maybe** sat in salon chairs 10x?? But I did research & am making the leap myself to go to a gal I found in Houston (who is super expensive, btw) to help teach me how to be healthier about taking care of my curls. I’m nervous, but excited, too.

Im anti oil only when my hair is blown out to flat ironed. Other wise on the natrual hair I use cold pressed oils.
