I mean I’m Dominican (like 100%) but my hair is naturally straight and that makes me mad most of the time

No sé. [I was wayyy ahead of my time]. :::shrugs::::

  5. Hermano Mayor on November 29, 2018 at 7:26 pm

First "curly" hair salon? Would that be the same as first black/African decent salon?

  6. Ivanna Naranjo on November 29, 2018 at 7:26 pm

I’m Ecuadorian but my bf is Dominican, it makes me sad to hear people from an older generation say people with curly hair is “Pelo Malo”. I honestly think curly hair is beautiful!

If I do have a daughter or daughters with my bf and they are born with curly hair, I want them to embrace them.

I was the first of all my friends and family to stop chemically straightening my hair, and two years in I went to Carolina when miss rizos was barely opening to get braids done, I arrived at 9 am left at 6 pm, absolutely loved the experience and I’ve been recommending them ever since, it’s not a Salon, it’s a family.

  19. Grily Urena on November 29, 2018 at 7:40 pm

Omg I need this in miami. All my life hating my hair, wasting a lot of money on keratina but never happy with the result. So I abandoned my hair and I look like a hobo literally because and tired to try to look straight. All my life my mother and grandmother straight their hair so I grow up thinking that my pajon es feo todavia la gente me dice que se ve feo , but if something like this near a professional telling me how to take care my hair like really is ,I will be more happier. My roots are Dominican hasta la tambora.

  20. Helen Smith on November 29, 2018 at 7:40 pm

I connected to this so much. When I went natural five years ago, I big chopped and it was very scary and vulnerable, and I had to confront all those feelings too. It’s so cool to have a salon for naturals!!!!!

  21. Romunda Curtis on November 29, 2018 at 7:40 pm

I wish I had known about this shop when I lived in Boca Chica! I used to walk around looking crazy! LOL I love what you are doing Julissa. Thank you for introducing us to Carolina. Carolina thank you for remembering we women who love our hair, curls and all. Thank you

Thank for doing the video, I am from states and love this so much. I also love the Dominican hair care line, can you tell me why it so hard to find Dominican republic material data sheet (SDS) (MSDS sheets of the silicon mix treatment and Crece Pelo and other. If you can share the website where to download the companies are not responding. I subscribed so hopefully you can talk about that.

  46. Kiara Pereyra on November 29, 2018 at 8:15 pm

In this salon I started my curly hair journey in May of 2017 (I have a video on my channel about it), unfortunately at the moment my self-esteem was on the floor and I didn’t want to cut my hair, so I started my "transition" process, one month goes by and I got the impulse to go to a salon and just cut my hair, I didn’t go to Miss Rizos and went to another famous curly hair salon in DR and the lady that cut my hair was JUST learning how to do it, so basically i was left bald lol Cutting my hair taught me so much about myself and about self-acceptance. I love what this salon is promoting in my country and I feel proud that every day more people in my very judgeamental country are coming to their senses that the hair that comes out of our head is perfect just the way it is.

  47. Paola Rodriguez on November 29, 2018 at 8:15 pm

  49. Nicole Bonetti on November 29, 2018 at 8:20 pm

tell me why I cried when Julissa cried?! I feel it! I have curly hair and recently moved 2mos ago. did not know this place existed and I’m soooo excited! will visit soon. Thank you, Carolina, for the amazing things you are doing for Dominican curls! see you soon.

  50. Lilibette Duarte on November 29, 2018 at 8:21 pm

I’m so motivated. Many tell me to not even think about having a life in DR. But this is a prime example that it’s possible. She represents what I aspire to be. I too made that transition from having my hair straightened and relaxed to going completely natural. It’s been 6 years now and I don’t regret it. I’m so proud to see a fellow Dominican woman be successful and be an activist of change and progress for the culture. Loved this and thank you Julissa for sharing ❤❤❤🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
