My ‘no-name’ clipper set arrived today – Everywhere is sold out of the brands, or they’re three times the usual price – so I’ll be trying this tomorrow. Never done it before and I’m five months overdue. UK hairdressers don’t open until 4th July and they will be rammed for at least a month. People will be trampled in the rush. So, it’s Clipper Time. Not overfly fussed about the outcome, but anything that stops me looking like Beetlejuice will be a big improvement.

To make it easier, just doing number four all over or even a three all over

  7. Jon Focker on December 12, 2020 at 9:55 pm

  8. Bob Ross on December 12, 2020 at 9:57 pm

4:20, you did the middle with a number 8 and then you went to the left and the right of the middle with the clippers set to longer than the middle part? Should the middle part be longer??

Thanks so much. Love your chill down to earth vibe. I’m about to do it for the first time and am a bit nervous about it. The guide gives me some confidence.

this was definitely the best self haircut tutorials I’ve seen, exactly what I was looking for to do my husband’s hair with an all-over clipper cut! With absolutely no prior experience, you made it not only simplified, but the end result was so professional looking! Thank you very much!!

Excellent. Thanks for putting the video up. Much appreciated. Great to see you have had close on 1500 votes of appreciation. It always amazes me that a few strange people find it necessary to give a down-vote. What on earth is their problem?

I kind of wonder if barbers are going to bee going out of service after correnteen. A lot of guys are cutting their own hair just like myself. I do have to say with cutting my own hair, I actually stand with the clippers in the shower, and I cut it in the shower so it doesn’t go everywhere. I obviously do not turn on the water at all, but I do cut it in the shower. This way the mess in all of its glory is all in the shower pan. Then, if their is a lot of hair, I can get it and put it in the trash. Lately, though I have been having the clippers shave my head. I am now letting it grow so I have something for the clippers to do. I have been cutting my own hair for 17 years, and I love doing it myself. It is almost like using an electric razor, but a bit more complex with all the guards, but it is the same kind of principal. When i first started out on my head, I used an electric razor that now is in razor heaven. It was the Braun series 7. Not a good machine to cut the hair with. Well, actually I used a Marrel o beard and mustache trimmer before then. It took a long time to cut my hair with that and the razor after that. Well, I years later went out and now, I have over 4 clippers and trimmers.

After three and a half months without a haircut and having watched your excellent tutorial several times I finally cut it myself this morning. The result was far better than I expected. Many thanks

  30. David Hibbard on December 12, 2020 at 10:18 pm

I found that using a good size hand mirror and having the back of your head towards the bathroom mirror makes it a lot easier to trim the back.

  31. James Everett on December 12, 2020 at 10:20 pm

Every self-haircut video I find, the guy has thick hair on top, and I noticed if your hair is almost gone on top or very thin, you can’t do it quite the same. The whispy hair on top becomes a problem and is hard to manage unless you just cut it all off the same length as the side.

  32. Paul Kearns on December 12, 2020 at 10:20 pm

I cut my hair for the first time using this method. Results were really good. Thanks for posting the video.

This is actually how my mom used to cut my hair when I was a kid. It’s interesting because I’d never seen anyone else do it like this until now. Good tutorial!

  39. David Hibbard on December 12, 2020 at 10:26 pm

I started out cutting my dad’s hair because the waiting time at the VA was to long he’s 87 and after he’s doc appt he just wanted to go home. So I started cutting my own and I do a better job than paying someone else to cut it.

Really tried to find a good video to follow to cut my teenage sons hair and every one of them was over complicated I’m so glad to have found yours as I’ve now mastered his hair after 5 months of it growing so it was a big job. Brilliant video 😊

  44. Greg E on December 12, 2020 at 10:38 pm

For a straight cut in back at the bottom of your hair line, if you have a strip of flexible foam that comes in rolls, I use a 1 to 2" thick strip about 2" wide x 5" long, and place it across where you want to cut, it helps with an even cut. I have the same Whal clipper set purchased about 8 years ago, with longest attachment is the 1" #8. I’ve only cut my hair a few times and used scissors on top. This video give me a good idea of how it will look at #8 length. Thanks!

  45. RAELIANO on December 12, 2020 at 10:39 pm

Good tutorial, actually I have the same Whal haircut machine, I try cut my hair with your recommended size of clippers. Greetings from Chile, and Thank you.

  46. Alexander on December 12, 2020 at 10:41 pm

  47. Randy Guess on December 12, 2020 at 10:44 pm

I guess that’s a good technique. The end result is surprising.
