Thanks for your reply. Can’t find the comment that I replied to. Great videos working my way through all your others now. Things I have learnt from 4 of my own cuts are:
    1. Take time. Use a bigger blade then necessary. Can’t put hair back on.
    2. Don’t try a fade.
    3. When using a mirror look in the hand held and practice without turning it on. Especially for the edges.
    4. Have the hoover close by. And do it with only a towel on. And wash hair before and dry.
    5. Plan out what you are going to do before you start. Don’t just do it!
Wish I had seen your videos 3 months ago.
Have you ever thought about doing personalised video links for £.

I was really nervous about trying this one and was sure I was going to mess it up but it works like a charm. Started with a number 4 just to be on the safe side and saw the bulk coming off but not in huge amounts. Then went down to no.3. I had previously tried other methods using fingers to work out the length with clippers (don’t have scissors) but this method does the job. THANKS!

All these guys that make barber videos have short hair to begin with because they make too many too many barber videos.

  4. RemoteHogg10 on November 28, 2020 at 9:26 pm

Gave this a go last night and was amazed by the results! I couldn’t have asked for a better looking haircut at such a great price too!! Thanks for the awesome video and easy to follow instructions!!

  8. James Delaney on November 28, 2020 at 9:31 pm

Best videos on YouTube no fuss and works !! I’ve similar hair to yourself so keeping it neat is easier than I thought thanks man 👍

  9. Francis Fernandes on November 28, 2020 at 9:31 pm

Thanks Michael! My 1st ever self haircut worked.

I used #4 on top and #2 around the sides and back (from your other video). Was done in 15-20mins. Very surprised how quickly I was done. I then spent a few mins with the scissors but gave up. -I found it unnecessary.

So far the comments from family have been positive.

Quick tip: “know when to stop!”

Followed this and the other video and very impressed with the results for a first time diyer.

  11. Bob Ross on November 28, 2020 at 9:35 pm

Was the lever on the clippers all the way open (longer setting), or all the way closed (shorter setting), or somewhere in between??

  12. 316lawable on November 28, 2020 at 9:36 pm

Thank you so much for this. My hair has been driving me crazy. Followed this, so easy!

  13. Marco Santos on November 28, 2020 at 9:37 pm

That is possibly, the worst haircut i have ever seen on Youtube……………………………………………..it’s very easy to do it yourself…….but, don’t listen to this clown………………..

  17. Paul May on November 28, 2020 at 9:42 pm

Thanks for the tutorial. Since lockdown I’ve been taking care of my own hair, some mistakes but getting more confident. Can you suggest a good set of clippers?

  18. Phil Gardiner on November 28, 2020 at 9:43 pm

This video is awesome, thank you – I’m still not quite sure why it works but it does a great job on my fairly straight hair. Not sure that I’ll see my hairdresser again.

    Thanks , bro :):)

  20. James Carter on November 28, 2020 at 9:45 pm

I have very straight fine hair that sticks out. What exactly will it do if I try this on mine? I’ve ordered the clippers haha.

  21. Alicia Liu on November 28, 2020 at 9:45 pm

The way to cut the top of your own hair yourself is very helpful.

  22. Tank Connors on November 28, 2020 at 9:45 pm

What number of the clipper did you use? did you say in your video? I didnt get it….4? 3?

  23. fhdhff on November 28, 2020 at 9:45 pm

I just cut my hair and beard watching this video and some of your others as a guide and was very pleased with the results especially for a first time. Good job explaining everything! I might try cutting my own hair from now on.

  24. iBrandon561 on November 28, 2020 at 9:46 pm

You can do this with a 4 or 5 too. A 5 looks nice and leaves the hair still longer of you like your hair longer 👍 that’s what I use

  25. ink on November 28, 2020 at 9:50 pm

I’ve been watching self haircutting videos for the last 5 months and yours have been the most helpful. Please continue to upload, even though the barbershops are open again. I’m continuing the cut my own hair. I estimate that I’ve saved over £150 since March.

  26. BURZIN BHABHA on November 28, 2020 at 9:50 pm

A big big thank you for your video. Saw many videos and tried trimming my hair, ended up screwing the sides and stopped halfway cause I wasn’t confident to continue. Then saw both your videos, they’re simple and so clear, yet do the job perfectly. Those 17 years deserve respect and applause, God bless you and your skill Michael. Just a question, my mom keeps her hair short as well, can I try the same style for her? Or is there any variation?

  27. Vinter Sorg on November 28, 2020 at 9:51 pm

So going with the grain does not take off as much as the guard ”should”?

  28. Alireza Sarvandi on November 28, 2020 at 9:51 pm

It worked really well on my hair. Believe it or not you are a lifesaver.

I want to thank you for this video. It was a godsend. Barbers are still not open where I live. I finally got the nerve to cut my own hair. I think it turned out pretty well.

  33. Preoccupied Paupers on November 28, 2020 at 10:00 pm

I can do the sides and the top but how do I blend it better?

The best I can get is No. 2 on the sides, No. 4 on the top and then try to blend the ‘join’ with No. 3……it looks ok but not as good as the hairdresser does it

  34. Yosef Brodsky on November 28, 2020 at 10:01 pm

    Thank you

  38. Eric Waynert on November 28, 2020 at 10:08 pm

Will this method cut length away or just thin it? I’m concerned it will take off inches. I currently have 3-4 inches on top. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Is the clippers closed or open

  41. Tom Messig on November 28, 2020 at 10:09 pm

that is awesome, i’ve been able to get the sides of my hair cut from muscle memory now without using mirrors on the back but i’ve always dreaded the top and usually let it grow for a few months before hitting it with the dreaded 8. i didn’t realize that this method existed. looking forward to using it to keep the top under control.

  42. Nijad Nakhoul on November 28, 2020 at 10:09 pm

This is the best way for a novice. Not much risk and it gets your hair to a decent length. For the back of the neck the help of a partner is useful.

  43. happysappy21 on November 28, 2020 at 10:10 pm

I don’t understand. You’re using #3 clippers but it’s not shaving your head, how come? Is it because you have wet and combed your hair forward or is it because of how you are angling the clippers? 2 months ago I use a #4 and ended up with a buzzcut, I don’t want that again. Please explain what about this method prevents it from shaving much closer to the skin. Thanks

  46. Dave Kahn on November 28, 2020 at 10:13 pm

The best I dared hope for was a decent result, and following your advice that’s exactly what I got. Looked through several other videos first but this was the plain no-nonsense simple method I needed. Many thanks. Hair looks OK.

  47. Daniel Jassé on November 28, 2020 at 10:13 pm

Worked ok for me until i used no.3 then it literally buzzed my hair really short, so now i got a 3 all over! Certainly far from foolproof

  48. Chris Parker on November 28, 2020 at 10:17 pm

Combined with your other video, this gave me the confidence to give my hair a much needed neaten up. Thank you!

  49. septimus1306 on November 28, 2020 at 10:17 pm

Great videos….. That said I can never get the back between the occipital ridge (??) and over my crown right….. looks like I’m wearing a bobble hat 🙂

Hey thanks now this is one video I was searching for on YouTube and finally found it.. most other videos talk about using trimmers on the side and using scissors on the top with a comb for ties time home uses.. now I’ve a plume of hair on top and smooth sides. Thankfully your video will help solve that issue. Thanks a lot for this great video.
