that happened to me. went to cosmetolgy school, getmy liscense and went straight into the salon. the lady i worked for didnt want to teach anything. i wasnt a good cutter and i told her that, and she just MADE me cut someones hair and it was messed up bad. so i think if she would have taken the time to show me, and give pointers on how to perfect the craft i would have been alot better. I miss doing hair but had to leave it. but i love your work!

Great advice
Having been in Human Resources for 20+ years, I would suggest that when you are interviewing for that Stylist Assistant position, you tell them you are interested in LEARNING and EXPANDING on your current knowledge base. You might get an indication of how open that person is to teaching and mentoring you.
