For those that wanted less talk, more action. Here we go. While shaving my head, I give examples of what each clipper guard looks like. Started from a #8 and then worked down to a #1 with a #1/2 on the side. I hope this helps those of you out that were wondering what each length looks like. Cheers.

Is it okay to do #8 on top and #6 on the sides and back if you don’t want to mess it up.
When my barber opens Iโm tempted to ask for a number 1 guard all over, still nervous about it hopefully I wonโt look like an egg ๐ but at the end of the day thereโs no maintenance to it and thereโs more to life than hair. Btw just wondering how long does it approximately take to grow out a number 1 buzz cut to a 3 or a 4?

Good job! It would have been great to have instructional videos when I started cutting my own hair ages ago. Gave myself plenty of kludgy hair cuts till i got the hang of it. FYI – Wahl had a 1 1/2 guard which gives a great fade transition between 1 open and 2 closed. They don’t come with most of their trimmer sets though.
