this is 100% real! true for reals! i never went to barber school and on the street my cuts are getting noticed! and it feels good! for somepeople barbering comes natural and to others it takes a bit… but in the end its your own skill that gets you clients and better and better cuts.. keep grinding and youll make it!! find your own style that works for you! I wasnt subscribed but this one the subcription!! God Bless Ejones!

The reason people go to barber school isn’t just to be good at cutting. You need to learn about diseases, bacteria or things you can transmit to other people by not using things the proper way and how to identify what’s going on to the clients scalp or hair. If you end up contracting a something to them you can catch a case. I didn’t know that I use to cut at home. But I’m attempting doing school and I’ll tell you this theirs alot of nasty shit in the barber industry from not sanitizing and procedures you need to know. I was just going to school to learn to cut but I learned alot. You should go to school bro it would open your eyes.

Quick question. I have a criminal record and I called the barber college. They said I may not qualify because of 3 counts of assault with deadly weapons cases and 1 battery on a police officer. Can I still qualify to go to school and get my barbers license???

  6. Uniqueillusi0nz on November 29, 2018 at 7:29 pm

Facts my guy. I’m not the best mechanic nor do I have any certifications, but I have side jobs every weekend. Haven’t had a single comeback in 4 years. But I had to put in the grind. Respect Ejones. Free oil change for a free cut? I’m a local. Haha. Great vid tho bro

If you don’t start young, it will be difficult. Why? You won’t have time if you have kids, debt and are under a lot of stress/pressure.

  13. Adrian Flory on November 29, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Bruh there needs to be more of a dialog concerning this subject. Im currently in barber school and Im feeling very scared about the future, every day im wondering if what im doing is gonna be worth it. Im wondering if im gonna be able to get my skills up enough by the end of school to ACTUALLY make money and get into a shop. Will I be able to get clientele? Will I have the skills? Is all this time and money im investing worth it? How the hell em im gonna get this shear cutting down? Is this a lifestyle and type of Job I want? What are my odds of success in all this. School is pretty taxing on me because everything is something im doing for the first time.

THAT being said. I need to keep the faith. I need to trust that things will be ok and keep myself inspired by this profession. I need to stay humble and be willing to do anything in order to learn and soak up knowledge right now. I have to precede forward knowing exactly where I am right now, in barber school, and not get ahead of myself, not be too hard on myself, and just remember im learning and trust the process.

I’ve seen a response to this video done and it is just nice to know that this is a topic rattling around in every beginning barbers head. I heard an interview done with Vic the barber where he speaks about his beginnings and it was nice to know that he started just as lost as I feel like I am in barber school, uncertain future, not sure if he was doing the right thing, etc…

Thanks for the topic and sharing your opinion and words of advice.

  15. obeylife1 on November 29, 2018 at 7:45 pm

"get your skills up first" ….. how the fuck you get your skills up without fucking clients??!! not everyone has their boys they grew up with to practice on and you can only cut your own hair after it grows back.

  24. Mister QZ on November 29, 2018 at 7:53 pm

I’m 16 and am just starting to learn how to cut hair. It’s hard to perfect my skill when I have nobody to practice on. I barely have any friends that are willing to let me cut their hair. And I don’t think I’m good enough to charge for a cut and doubt the people that do let me cut their hair would still let me cut their hair if I charge.

  25. YuddieTv on November 29, 2018 at 7:56 pm

  30. E-Live Da God on November 29, 2018 at 8:02 pm

Being a barber is a numbers and networking game. You wanna cut hair? You got to know people. At least 10 to 20 peoples that need cuts. You need to have clients already before you even go to barber school. The experience you have before school can build your portfolio and make you more confident. I would not blow my money or get into debt to learn how to cut hair without already doing it on the side for homies around the way for at least a year. Your first clients are people that KNOW YOU. They refer others to you through word of mouth and the income increases. You don’t just wake up and say I want to go to barber school without the connects. That’s stupid.

  31. Adrian Rodriguez on November 29, 2018 at 8:03 pm

Thanks E Jones, you made me realize how I need to appreciate life much more. I got no choice to be grateful

Best video you’ve be made ejones

  39. Andre Jackson on November 29, 2018 at 8:12 pm

This video is soooo one hunnid. I had friends that let me cut them in high school till I finally got enough skill to go out and charge money and actually get returning clients. In this world its not about looking good on paper, its still and will always be about PERFECTING YOUR CRAFT NO MATTER WHAT!!! Like ejones said "Fuck the car!" If I had a car rn I could easily double my clients! When you put the work in people respect that and they will compensate you! Good luck outchea cause its a dog eat dog world. And to you Ejones thank you for babying these boys, you really outchea teaching game… they just gotta listen. Word up from a fella self taught barber.

I just wanted to comment and just say I’m currently in high school & I’m a senior in high school I also completed my barber course 4 months ago. Im not the best barber out there but I put in work since I started I messed up yeah I did but now i’m charging $15 dollars and little by little I’m making so just like Ejones said you have to put the work in so anything is possible I’m taking my barber test in 3 weeks and i’m pretty happy with my life at the moment with my own facility to cut hair at my house. Hope y’all have a nice day.
