Move your fingers not your thumb
When using manual clippers your supposed to move your fingers and keep your thumb still. Your also supposed to rest the thumb side handle against the area where your thumb meets your palm.

My great grandpa founded and ran a barber shop about a mile from my house. My great grandma gave me a much of his stuff, which included a straight razor and a pair of hand-clippers. The barber shop is still up and running by another gentleman who is an amazing barber. He has a small display shelf with old vintage tools and decorations with a few of these hand-clippers.

If you hold it in your other hand, it won’t pull (as much) You can clearly see that it’s attached on the left side, and moving on the right side. Due to him moving the left side to cut, he’s just wiggling the razors and pulling the hair. Not that hard to figure out, probably hard to use tho haha

At 4:54 you almost had it right, the thumb side should stay more stationary, you’re treating them like scissors and actuating the wrong side. You’ve got the head wriggling back and forth instead of just the blade inside sliding side to side. And with the wrong side moving so much, that would cause a lot more pulling.
