How I CUT and LAYER my OWN hair PERFECT for VINTAGE styles – Fitfully Vintage

I’ve been cutting my own hair for YEARS.It sure is a learning process. In the past I used to veer from getting it spot on to looking a right mess. Now My hair cuts and trims are consistently good all thanks to a clever but super simple little gadget called the ‘creaclip’. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED PAYMENT or this video. I bought this creaclip with my own money many moons ago now and think it is splendid so I want to share it with you.
If you would like your own creaclip ( which is a brand name) or any other generic version then please visit http://creaproducts.co.uk/ or http://www.amazon.com/CreaClip-C-01/dp/B004NMR6TY
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hair+cutting+clip

Hair isn’t the most important thing in the world but, sometimes knowing you have a super cool ‘do’ can make you smile and that can only be a good thing right?

Welcome to Vintagious, here, in my own litttle corner of Youtube I will show you how to create beautiful hairstyles from all eras. Sure, my main focus is on simple vintage hairstyling but I also love easy modern styles.

I don’t have a favourite era, it changes all the time. One day it’ll be Edwardian hairstyles that I’m all over, the next, pinup girl hair, the next I’ll be all about Greek Goddesses and their crazy Barnets! I just love it all!

I do hope that you enjoy my videos and that you can learn something from them, even just a tiny bit – and even if you learn nothing I hope that they make you smile.

PAPER DULLS SCISSORS! It is best to have dedicated scissors for fabric and hair. My fabric scissors are over 50 years old but have nothing but fabric and are good as new! In the meantime I have gone thru numerous pairs of paper cutting shears! Iโ€™m sure the same would hold true for hair shears! ๐ŸŒน

Looks like a pro did it, and it took no time ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s funny how all professional hair dressers get mopey about people cutting their own hair, but to any layman this looks just as good, especially if you have curly thick hair you can get away with any uneveness, not like normal people pull out their ruler and go measure. I’ve been cutting my own for years cause hairdressers never followed my wishes, and i always ended up disliking the result. Ever since, I have been so much happier with my hair and saving money ๐Ÿ˜€

Awesome job.. I’m going to try this after I buy me one. Thank you

  5. Karen Mitchell on January 1, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Pfft, I’ve been cutting my own hair for over 10 years very similar without that gimmicky contraption..costs, one hair tie and scissors.
I gather ALL had at the centre front, tie and cut, then cut into it to layer it. Done in less than 5 minutes

  6. henrietta henson on January 1, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Can please only use this divice if you have realy thick hair ….trust me i have had to correct hair that has been cut with this system and its not good for everybody …

  7. Melanie Martin on January 1, 2021 at 10:25 pm

Remember that your body/head has to be "straight" to make sure the bubble will actually be accurate. You may also get better results if you cut wet with conditioner in your hair for slip

  8. Jennifer W on January 1, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Please understand, even if you still go to the salon 4 times a year for a major cut, the cost adds up for those little, in- between trims. Why! Continue budgeting that money, as if you were still going, then once a year, take it and splurge!

  9. kayekog on January 1, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Aww. Your head is NOT big and your face is very pretty. Some people… Anyways thanks so much for doing this video. I think I’m going to try it. I’m going to the down bar right now to check out ordering that cutting tool.

thank you so much for this video!!!
I was looking for ages for a video with a vintage haircut! thanks!

I use the creaclip all the time, but my hair reaches the small of my back. I want it about your length but was worried how it turns out that short, but it looks good so I think I may go for it. I’m tired of really long hair

  12. twominutetips on January 1, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Great demo and great hair – I have hair thickness envy.

  13. Sharon Socoloski on January 1, 2021 at 10:33 pm

I ‘ve been using the crea clips for about 2 years now and love them! At 61 years old and on SSD, going to a stylist for wash, cut, color and style is over. $200 [excluding the tip] went to same stylist 4 times, and each time, [asked for "EXACTLY SAME STYLE] and she got 2/4! Even, showed her a picture to remind he! I left, in tears! Unacceptable! Now, I do it myself!

  14. Mary Stewart on January 1, 2021 at 10:33 pm

Sorry but your hair looks a pure mess

  15. You Suck on January 1, 2021 at 10:35 pm

  18. Paws Of Love on January 1, 2021 at 10:38 pm

I love my creaclip. i use it to cut my hair every 3 month’s. It’s a awesome tool…

  19. fosmert 8 on January 1, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Excellent video! I am so glad to find a great video of someone with hair about the same length as mine. I am glad to see you do not have to have super long hair for it to work.

  20. Izumiorra on January 1, 2021 at 10:43 pm

Can this work for short hair, about shoulder blade length, when I flip my hair over the inner part of my hair is shorter is that okay or will it look weird

  21. Crystal M on January 1, 2021 at 10:43 pm

Thank you. Just did my hair with the crea clip using your video. I’m pretty happy with the results. So nice being able to cut my own hair evenly. One time I tried letting my husband cut my hair and I swear one side was two inches higher than the other. I’ve never gotten over it and just cut my hair from the front when it got really long. It’s a huge relief because I hardly ever have money for things like hair cuts and if I did I would send the kids instead. Oh and I’m on the hair scissor bandwagon, just not the fifty dollar ones. You can get cheap ten dollar hair scissors at Wal-Mart that work well.

  22. Lynelle Thompson on January 1, 2021 at 10:44 pm

So you trimmed the whole length first. Next it looks like you parted your hair front of ear across your head to your other ear, and cut that section about 1 inch shorter to get your cut. I am new to Creaclip so I am trying to find the best technique to cut my hair. I have only cut the 1 layer technique so far.

  23. Julie on January 1, 2021 at 10:49 pm

I’ve been using a creaclip for about two years and it really is a godsend. I save about 100 dollars a year on salon trips, and no more bad haircuts ๐Ÿ™‚ One note – it’s true cutting dry can be more accurate when gauging how much you are cutting, but it is very hard on the hair and can create split ends. Using hair scissors (reserved ONLY for cutting hair) and cutting wet is really best if you have problems with damage. If you cut wet, be conservative about how much you cut – you can always cut more the next wash.

  24. Fiona Watson on January 1, 2021 at 10:49 pm

Thanks. Professional hair cuts are expensive & it is so difficult to find a hairdresser who understands what will work for vintage styles

  25. HomeBaseIncome101 on January 1, 2021 at 10:50 pm

The best video I’ve watched to learn how to use the creaclip better.

  26. Emma & Brodie Bear on January 1, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Does the way you used the clip create the v in the back or was it more straight. Would have really liked to see the back. I want to know if this can me used and not have such a sharp v cut in the back.

  27. joy lang on January 1, 2021 at 10:53 pm

your scissors are awful barber scissors are a must .

  28. blakat71 on January 1, 2021 at 10:56 pm

OMG!!! First pair of scissors matched the wallpaper…Well done girl๐Ÿ‘

  29. katy purslow on January 1, 2021 at 10:57 pm

I’ve just tried this and I like it! ๐Ÿ˜€ it’s not prefect because I couldn’t keep the spirit bubble in the middle but that’s my fault not the clips lol and I also don’t wear my hair down so it’s ok that it’s not perfect lol Thanks for the demonstration

  30. AK Markland on January 1, 2021 at 10:58 pm

    I love your wallpaper!

  31. Bradley Taylor on January 1, 2021 at 10:58 pm

    You have the best arms!

  32. Bread Sandwich on January 1, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Creaclip is an improvement on what’s called the squeeze cut. I have the clips and I’ll probably never go to a hairdresser again. It’s better to be in charge of your own haircut. I love my creaclips!

  33. Melody O'Connell on January 1, 2021 at 11:00 pm

    Itโ€™s a bedspread.

  34. Gordana Georgina Jovanovic on January 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

What’s the clip called so I can get it

  35. Rachel Thomas-Rayment on January 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I got the clips from ebay (not Crea, but very good value for money) and bought some scissors from the pound shop

The result – my hair is not tatty on the ends, and I love the fact that I got a tidy up on a Sunday afternoon

Thank you for tutorial, without it I would never have dared cut my hair again… not after the last time! haha

  36. Ribbons & Rouge on January 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I need to get my hands on one of those…. I cut my own hair, too…. it’s always a risky business! haha Looks like this little gadget helps!

  37. adnamA baaN on January 1, 2021 at 11:03 pm

I’ve been cutting my own hair for a couple years now using pony tails….just ordered this because it looks soooo much easier!

  38. Brunette M on January 1, 2021 at 11:03 pm

I don’t know why some people been very drastic with her over using regular a pair of scissors โœ‚๏ธ she used what was convince for her and her hair cut came so nice ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

  39. Kelly Szymanski on January 1, 2021 at 11:05 pm

I love your video! I have also just discovered the CreaClip~and I love it! My hair is very similar to yours, only longer. But I tried the CreaClip this morning, with perfect results! Thank you for showing how easy it is! Best of luck with other videos!

  40. susan regan on January 1, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I’ve been using the creaclip and find using a small set of clippers gives a cleaner line

  41. VenusAB on January 1, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Please take a Hairdressing scissors – itยดs better for your hair, really or you can take a hair-clipper

  42. Lila Leeds on January 1, 2021 at 11:08 pm

My creaclip arrived today & I just tried it out. I thought I’d try just an inch or so off as a test. It worked great. Thank you so much for posting this video! I was paying about $80 per haircut (and I get my hair cut 3 times a year at least) so I will be saving quite a bit of money & finally getting a midy style cut that I really like. Thank you once again.

  43. Bonnie Belle on January 1, 2021 at 11:10 pm

I would love to do this, but I have a shoulder length Bob with long layers and it just would not work as the back of the hair is just not long enough – your hair does have to be a certain length.

  44. Semi-Pro on January 1, 2021 at 11:13 pm

Definitely use hair shears and not kitchen scissors, I see you have replied to some people below about this-even a 10 dollar pair of shears from Sallys is better than sharp kitchen ones. It’s why your ends are so fluffy, you’re not giving them a clean cut at all that way.

  45. Taryn Daly on January 1, 2021 at 11:14 pm

As a hairstylist this looks like a nightmare. It would be very easy to get uneven layers unless you are extremely precise about brushing your hair down with even tension. And DO NOT use kitchen scissors to cut your hair. They’re not sharp like hair cutting shears. It’ll cause split ends to form a lot quicker, and it will bevel the ends of your hair (which is fine if that’s the look you want, as long as you’re ready to deal with all the split ends). Investing in a $20-50 pair of hair cutting shears would be a good idea.

Love you so much, thank you for this! I’m gonna try it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. Aleksandra Andrianova on January 1, 2021 at 11:16 pm

Lots of people here being mad or just unsatisfied with salon cuts, that should prove something. I like to cut my own hair too. Hairdresser cut my hair while it was dry and with razors and bad layer so i regretted it and once i came home i cut off more so it wouldnt look so obviously straight like a hat, it was awful. Its hard to cut my own hair straight in the back now with short hair but cut only the tiniest bit so not like they always cut off half length.. and i even saw a hairdresser tell me she cut off that girls long hair short because she thought it was so damaged. That was so awful, i am glad that didnt happen to me but it’s really shocking.

  48. Sheeba Kitty on January 1, 2021 at 11:17 pm

    YOUR HEAD IS HUGE. WOW!
Not saying you are unattractive, just that your head is incredibly large. Thanks for the tips but spending 20 on a pair of haircutting scissors is def worth it.

  49. Sonja Anne Maria Dover on January 1, 2021 at 11:19 pm

I once drowned as a child and was resuscitated. I saw the other side and it was your wallpaper.

  50. Lindy Lewis on January 1, 2021 at 11:21 pm

Thanks for this! I really needed a cut but didn’t want to go to the salon because I am high risk for Covid-19. I just cut my hair using my new clip and your instructions. It looks great! I think it’s better than when I go to the salon, and it cost me less than one cut and style.
