i don’t think that i have ever heard any interview for Dale Keown and hes one of my favorite comic artists evah!
I love you video..n sketch..
But i always have this question
How i could make a comic n sell it…if u got time to see this comment n answer…i will like that…keep like…
Do you think having a more 70s style could be a little interesting to an editor?
They look closely at who you know in the industry. Looking at the quality of the work they are putting out it obviously is NOT based on the quality of the submitted work.
marvel is hand picking sjw artists. not by merit.
WELL i’ve to say, that video was great, one questions, in wich other pages i can search for comic jobs? (besides digital webbing, zwol & penciljack)
Thank you great channel!
James, this is some good stuf man!
*12k* *SUBS?* Gratz man!
And one Q: Will we see background tutorial enytime soon(prospective)?
* james nods *
How i could send you few of my art work…just to see you react n opinion about it…any email for the fan…
Thanks for the tips man… I have been drawing for many years but never took it serious… I’d say I am about an 8 compared to top marvel artist being a 10. I’m there but have no idea about creating comics until now. And because of your vids I am now pursuing this passion and yes I know if my art really sucks…. Iol… I do feel bad for people who want to be artist but just never get that niche… Thanks for motivating me and hopefully you will see my work someday… 30 years old here… Lol… Ready to put my talent to good use.
hey your such an inspiration and before i watched your videos people didnt really care for my art and i wasnt improving i recently watched you head tutorial and now people actually stop and look at my art in disbelif and i just wanted to thank you so much for that im getting complements for my art for the first time. Me and a friend are starting are comic book franchise and have brainstormed every thing and I’m focusing on characters and my friends doing the back grounds. I’ve got the head down(theres always room for improvement though (; any ways i need help with drawing a male super hero body could you please make a tutorial just like the head one (i’d love if you made an uncut tutorial series!) THANKS
I got reviewed by John Barber when he was still at IDW, right before he left. I wish I knew where he was now. He told me to keep sending him stuff and gave me his card but another editor at IDW Dave, said he was no longer there and gave me 3 other editors contact info. still I wish I knew where John was now so I could follow up with him… very cool that your friends with him.
thanks so much! this stuff is incredibly useful
Great insights! Thanks for posting this!
And you could do your own Indiegogo campaign.
There was a time that i would of loved to work for Marvel, but after they betrayed the fan base with hiring SJW third rate hacks to force diversity, i have been now focusing on trying to get work through other comic companies.
Question What college should i go to become a comic artist art college or animation ?
Sir I think you may know You are a great artist .

Good content out there.. Keep em coming 😀
intesting
Wow this helps SO MUCH, IM SO GLAD you made this
Hey James, I was wondering if you would do a video of something like “the ten most popular super hero poses” what poses are the most popular and successful among editors, fans, etc. thanks for the great art and videos!!
Man, James. You nod a lot. 😛
Pretty awesome interview. Thanks
Could you do some more specified tutorials? Similar to your head tutorial, but some that are more specific, like eyes, noses, mouths, arms, hands, posing, human/anatomy construction, etc.
It would also be cool if you made a video about designing/redesigning character costumes.
it makes sense. do a few issues about 20-25 pages of different characters (like the big superstar characters from DC-Marvel) and send it in as a portfolio piece. it’ll give the editors a boost in confidence knowing that you can get the job done
THE RIGHT POLITICS!!!
Very informative, thank you for doing this for us! 🙂
If there was an Olympic sport that mainly used the neck, james would get Gold, after all that nodding XD
thanks so much for this!!! ❤❤

You should come to Melbourne and do a calab with drawing with jazza and have a meet up to
Found one of your tutorials as a recommendation from Youtube. I’ve seen about 4 of your videos in the last 2 hours and I’m loving it, keep up the great work.
thats not a microphone thats a calculator
*take a drink everytime James nods….
good luck.. (taken voice)
according to marvel 2018, you need to be a shit SJW web artist
This is more like how to talk to editors but still a good video
Thanks for sharing! Its very helpful to get that insider perspective from an editor!
Special thanks to my friend John Barber – former IDW & Marvel Editor for doing this for us 🙂

I know a guy who wasted his whole life dreaming of being a Marvel/DC artist; he never understands his "style" doesn’t fit these hero comics he loves so much and I feel sad about him never giving up and ruining his own life waiting for that dream job. I’d rather make my own stuff instead, but he just fail to give up at such a point it became a destructive dream for him… This guy is around his 40s now.
