I tried giving my hubby a skin fade quarantine haircut!! I posted the video to our channel let me know what you think 🤔
A few truths I’ve learned after about 6-7 haircuts now.
– Just accept the first couple of attempts are likely not going to come out as you hope. Like anything, it’ll just take practice to become good at cutting your hair.
– Use the corners of your clippers when trying to get a specific spot in your fade. I rotate between the flicking motion/using the corner.
– You are your own worst critic. I can assure you that those imperfections are likely only noticeable or focused as strongly on by you.
– Take your time. This guy clearly has had some practice cutting his hair. My first couple cuts took hours. Yes, I said hours. I’m what one would call OCD and a perfectionist. I decided to cut my hair this morning and it only took me 30 minutes and it’s honestly my best cut yet. You’ll be thankful later you spent the extra time focusing on the process rather than the results.
– If you mess up, it’s fine. It’s only hair and it’ll grow back. If you make a mistake, give it at least a week to grow back out before having another go at it. I find it’s easier to cut/fade my hair when there’s more hair to work with.
– If your cut isn’t perfect, just remember that (at least in my case) most of your buddies look the Geico caveman. Your less than perfect haircut will still look far better than most guys that aren’t willing to take the time to learn the process of cutting their own hair. Not to mention, you’ll get brownie points from your girl/women for at least trying to keep up with daily appearances.
– Use baby powder for going back over the bald fade. This tip was a godsend. For any guys that manscape other areas such as your chest, back, etc. the baby powder makes trimming those areas much easier.
Am as I good as this guy or have a cut that looks like I just came from the barber? Nope. But I’d likely say that if you saw me out you wouldn’t know the difference.
Every time I cut my hair it’s incredibly gratifying knowing I did it myself. Not to mention, coming from someone that got a fade every other week, it’s quite nice knowing I’m saving $30+ every time I fade my own hair.
For anyone looking for haircut tutorial videos, I can assure you this guy’s channel is the best out there. I’m one that spends an excessive amount of time doing his research before pulling the trigger on anything. I spent hours searching and watching videos. What makes this guy’s videos perfect for the DIY fades is he relates the videos to the average joe. Most other videos use terminology that we don’t know/understand or use equipment that we don’t have. His videos are clear, easy to understand, and get directly to the point.
I’ve been meaning to write that for a while now. So thanks for these tutorial videos man. They were incredibly helpful and I can safely say I’ll be cutting my own hair 90% of the time now. Thanks for taking the time to make these and thank you for your service.
