If you want to remove some hair in a hurry than these are perfect. If you plan to blend or fade you’ll probably need several blades or the universal comb set like in the video. The cost of blades really adds up so your probably better off going with the universal attachment comb set.

hcproreviewson May 14, 2021 at 12:13 am
The Oster combs are made of sturdy hard plastic with very little flex. I know what you mean about the Wahl combs. I still have an old Wahl Color Pro and the combs that came with them were pretty flimsy in comparison.

Those 76 ers sound a little loud. I sharpen and repair them for a living, including numerous other makes. You mentioned you havent done any maintenance on those since you’ve owned them? They are way over due for a new drive, link and gear. That will quiet them back down and restore the power they had when they were new. The gears are a little pricey, about $10.00. The link and drive are about $6- $10 for both. Well worth the investment. They are good quality clippers. Nice video

hey i wanna get some of these. right now i use some wahl clippers. and usually cut my hair to 1.5 mm which is#1/2. i know the numbers are different. so what would be the closest to this number.i want something that’s at least 1mm.

Oh, *that’s* how you swap blades. Man the manual is zero help. Coming from a 20yo clipper without a blade system, I’m sitting here unscrewing the top blade and going "wth?". Thanks for the visual on it. All good I guess, taking the blade apart made it easy to figure out how to adjust tension and align the bottom/top blade the right way.
hcproreviewson May 14, 2021 at 12:17 am
After about 10-15 minutes of continuous use it does start to heat up but mainly in the cover plate area and not to the point where it actually burns. Usually, if its well greased and oiled then it wont heat up as fast.

Thank you for your review. I have newer version of this model. I like to use clipers to cut deep or just cut little hair. What do you recommend.
hcproreviewson May 14, 2021 at 12:22 am
The original kit is usually the Classic 76 and 1 or 2 detachable blades. Sellers of the Classic 76 often add the universal comb set (which does include a #5 comb) as a bundled item or it can be purchased separately.

The black universal comb attachment set… How strong are the combs? I had a wahl with plastic clip on combs and the teeth were sort of flimsy and would become bent to the side and therefore cut the hair unevenly (low spots). Thanks in advance
D Ruizon May 14, 2021 at 12:36 am
Agreed about the how to attach the blades. I bought these for my wife, and she popped the blade off when she was trying to remove a clip. The spring loaded lever had depressed, so I had no idea the blade needed to seat in the lever. The instructions the oster 76 came with were suspect as hell. Thank you for that! These are some GREAT clippers!

Hey, just a quick question.
What blades are best to use for a short haircut? (marine’s style but little longer)
longer on the top and going shorter on the side
Thanks =)

why? because they wont cut the correct length

when you attach the blade onto the clipper henge the clipper should be on thats y it makes that noise since you have had the clipper for a while and had no maintenance done on it, you probably need the henge replaced.

About a year or two ago I invested in an Andis T-Outliner. I only use it shape up my beard but I need to find a good guard for it for a 1.5 inch trim. Any idea how I can do this? Can’t find blade/attachment anywhere. I appreciate this video and sorry it’s not about Oster. I might look into them as well. Hope to hear from you. I only use these for my beards.

I went to cut my are not too long ago and I asked for a 5 all around and then a taper, and after that guy got done it looked like he gave me a 1 all around. He used a oster classic 76. And I was wondering, does the original kit comes with a 5 comb.
hcproreviewson May 14, 2021 at 1:06 am
I’ve been curious to know myself. Recently I had to change out my end cap cause I busted it. The replacement was a complete cap with power cord and toggle switch. Just the feel alone didn’t seem as sturdy. The newer end caps are longer I guess because of the redesigned removable air filter screen. If you look at the classic 76 in the video the end cap is shorter. Also the replacement end cap had a plastic toggle switch whereas the toggle switch on my original cap was all metal. Hope that helps.
