GETTING MY BRAIDS DONE IN AFRICA (KAMPALA, UGANDA)
Getting my hair cornrowed and twisted by my friend and her friend. Beautiful ladies with warm hearts. I love them and miss them so much! They did a great job!

Every time I go to a African braiding shop it be hurting so bad and I noticed that I never see the Africans who braid my hair GOT the braids I see why they probably be screaming on the inside getting it done tooππ
I want to learn how to do it.
I hate how people say African braiders are bad when In uk the African braider even layed my edges for me with them sleek swoops π€£
Damn! This white girl (red hair and freckles…about as white as they get, LOL) had my friends’ mama offer to cornrow my hair like she did for my friends’ when we were all out camping together. I thought that was a cool idea….not knowing how freaking painful it was for a tender-scalped person with my slick straight hair to get that done. I was literally grabbing my knees with tears streaming down my face in pain the whole time. And the mama was wondering how to keep my slick straight hair in the braids, lol. Kind of a train wreck all around.
Flash forward many decades and I actually worked for Black American Studies Dept. at a university and helped edit a book on African American Hair Culture… No more braids for me. I’ll admire them on black women with tougher scalps than I have! I’m guessing that if you are used to getting some kind of cornrows or braids from an early age your scalp is more used to it.
They lady in the black is so pretty!!!
Oh hell naw
