I am almost 30 and i was always too afraid to dress how i wanted. I did it a bit but not to the level of extra i do now.
I guess i just don’t care now that im older.
Its great because you can dress vintage on a budget if you know where to go. And make your own stuff! It’s just so much more available now.
I just hate that people have been overcharging just because it’s the in style thing now.

Black and Latina girls have been doing these hairstyles for a long time. I was born in 1999 so I would not even be considered a 90s kid. Growing up, I got made fun for wearing all of these hairstyles bc the white girls considered them ghetto. My mom loved doing my hair as a kid so she felt distraught when 7 year old me told her to stop doing these “ridiculous” hairstyles on me. It’s nice that these hairstyles are becoming trendy again because it makes me realize that the shame I felt then was a product of my upbringing growing up in a white neighborhood as a Mexican girl and not because of the hairstyles themselves.
