Sensory Friendly Haircut at Home | Autism Spectrum Disorder
Hello Guys!
For Santi, and many other children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD, getting a haircut can be distressful and sometimes even traumatic experience. He usually gets 1 haircut a year around summer, when it gets too long and uncomfortable for him so we get it cut
Because we now understand how much he struggles with the whole haircut experience, we are taking in consideration his Sensory Processing Disorder, and decided to do it at home where we can have more control over the entire environment and the pace. We allow him to have tons of breaks, snacks and screens
My special thanks to my sister, who trained herself using YouTube videos on how to cut boys hair, so she could help Santi. She is getting better and better at it, and thanks to her understanding and patience we managed to get Santi’s hair cut with almost no tears

These are such good tips! My older son is so sensitive, he has never had a haircut! We took him to a kids hair cut place but he had a meltdown so it was a no go. Washing his hair is the worst part of the day too😓 Thanks for the helpful video!!
